Hello! My name is Erica Carlson and I am currently a Scholars student from the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. I am from Catskill, New York and am pursuing a major in Finance and Economics, as well as a minor in Computer Science Engineering. I chose Finance and Economics due to my passion for business and commerce, which fits well with my outgoing yet disciplined personality. Since it has become increasingly important to understand technology in today’s world, my Computer
Science Engineering major has gone a long way in challenging me intellectually while contributing to my understanding of technological advancement in business and industry.
Since starting my college career I have become involved in
a variety of organizations on campus, both inside and outside of The Max M. Fisher College of Business. These activities include Scarlet and Gray Financial Coaching, which allows students to help educate and assist the Ohio State community with financial wellness and planning, as well as the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity, which I am currently pledging. I am also involved in two organizations which pair international students with domestic students in an effort to cross cultural boundaries and
solidify diverse friendships: the Fisher International Friends Program and the English Conversation Program. Lastly I am involved in the Women in Science and Engineering Book Study Organization, which emphasizes how women can and have excelled in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Technology. All of these diverse organizations allow me to have a well rounded perspective of The Ohio State University and life after college, academically, professionally and personally. I firmly believe that each of them contributes to who I am in a different way, and I have gained immeasurable knowledge in business, culture, and academia.
Looking forward I am excited to continue to expand my horizons and grow through all of the opportunities The Ohio State University has to offer!
