Life Beyond Mathematics Degree

The Association for Women in Math, Math to Industry, and the Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success are hosting, Life Beyond Math Degree, a two-part series planned exclusively for math majors. We are offering a two-event series: Part I focuses on how to maximize your use of Handshake (an OSU career platform) for career success, as well as how to prepare your elevator pitch. This session will be led by career coach, Doanise Thompson with OSU career services.    Part II is your opportunity to talk with industry professionals and hear about the diverse range of career opportunities available to math degree holders.  Invited companies including Nationwide, Pinterest, Uber, Goldman Sachs, and more.  While participation in the full series is encouraged, it is not required.

Part I: Join us February 21st , from 5pm-7pm in Math Tower 724.  Handshake is the intuitive, easy-to-use job search system available to help you connect with employers, career communities, and explore opportunities. You’ll see how Handshake works, learn the benefits of completing a thorough profile, and receive customized guidance on searching for resume-builders related to your career goals. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn and practice networking strategies and your elevator pitch to help you prepare for Part Two in the series.

Part II: Join us February 25th, from 5:30pm – 6:45pm pm in Math Tower 724. This is your opportunity to learn more about where your math degree can take you by connecting with alumni of the Department of Math, as well as industry leading professionals, who can answer your questions about career preparation and offer insight into an array of career paths.
