Purpose: What can I do with a mathematics degree? How do I find a job given my math background? What types of corporations hire mathematicians?

We are creating a Math to Industry seminar to empower students to use their mathematics degree to land rewarding jobs. In this seminar, you will learn about the transition from the university to the job market from mathematicians working at corporations such as Target, Nordstrom, Google, and more. The invited speakers will…

  • share the skills that are in demand (coding, research experience, internships possibilities, etc.)
  • converse about their path from student of mathematics to corporate mathematician.
  • discuss how they use math in their jobs.
  • talk about work life balance and making your passion into your job.

Kristen Petersen |
Director of Real Estate Analytics
February 26, 2020: 4:00PM at Math Tower (MW) 724

We are looking to hire entry level analysts/specialist at ALDI’s corporate Real Estate headquarters in Dublin, OH. My team utilizes Alteryx & Tableau to analyze construction costs, as well as other real estate-related (procurement, energy, facilities, etc.) data. We also have joined forces with a predictive analytics partner to forecast future sites/market build out, and are constantly using data to reevaluate our market-entry strategy throughout the country. We are very data driven and have strong data culture, and I think that these traits would reside well with someone majoring in math, actuarial sciences, analytics, or a similar field.
