About Me: Process

About Me

Design 2110 Fundamentals AU21

Jorie Capper

For this assignment, I was encouraged to focus on how to properly design any assignment. When composing an “About Me” page for my portfolio, presentation is important to highlight the ideas one may want to stress, while still providing adequate information.

Research

I first looked into the various points of view on what makes a good design. I watched three videos, all of which focused on the rules of making a good design. From these I learned a collective takeaway; less is more, and when in doubt, go with the first idea.

Exercises

My Good and Bad Design project applied the principles I learned from my research in order to further understand the ideas behind them. I focused on how to properly format an assignment of this kind, and how to use that formatting to further my points.

My Good and Bad Designs

Production

I brainstormed what information about me would be appealing in a professional portfolio, and what would help the viewers of my work connect with me as a designer. I compiled different facts about me and considered how I view design, in order to show how design is a part of my life.

Iterations

I wrote multiple drafts on what design means to me, how it has affected me, and my personal life. I then edited them together and formatted the short bio with a headshot of me to help provide a more personal connection with those reading my About Me page. I also learned the importance of good formatting, and how it affects the opinion of those viewing my work.
