Undergraduate Students

Eva Shearer

Eva Shearer is a fourth-year majoring in psychology and pursuing an Undergraduate Honors Research Thesis. She aspires to attend Physician Assistant school and practice as a PA in rural underserved areas. Her honors thesis seeks to understand emerging adults perceptions’ of their mothers and fathers. She is the co-founder of a nonprofit called Uplift Youth Volunteers which provides underprivileged children in the Columbus community with food, activities, and mentorship. She is an avid concert goer and enjoys reading, hiking, and lifting.

 

 

Raegan Fisher

Raegan Fisher is a senior majoring in psychology with a minor in American Sign Language. She is planning to pursue a graduate program in clinical psychology. In the lab, she is assisting with the COPE study by recruiting volunteers and running family visits. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing games, crochet, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

 

 

 

 

 

Carmen D’Alesio

Carmen D’Alesio  is a third year undergraduate student majoring in neuroscience at The Ohio State University with a minor is Psychology Research. He is from Youngstown, Ohio. After graduation, his goals include attending medical school and eventually becoming a practicing physician. Currently, he is interested in both pediatrics and surgery. This is his second school year being a part of the lab and excited to continue working. Outside of school and work, he enjoys running, spending time with his friends, and reading!

 

 

 

 

Abby Henck

Abby Henck is a third year biology major with a minor in psychology. After undergrad, she hopes to attend medical school and become a pediatric psychiatrist. Her interests include child development and mental health. In the lab, Abby assists with the CoPE study by recruiting and running volunteers. Out of the lab, Abby is a member of Delta Omega Kappa and a Clinic Coordinator in behavioral health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In her free time, Abby loves to go to concerts, crochet, and travel.

 

 

 

 

Chloe Guo

Chloe Guo is a second-year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. She plans to pursue a graduate program in developmental psychology after graduation. Her research interests focus on children’s social development, emotions, and how different parenting styles impact child development. Outside of the lab, Chloe also works in an online peer counseling program. She enjoys watching romantic movies, musicals, and practicing ballet.

 

 

 

 

Emma Hovanec

Emma Hovanec is an undergraduate student studying psychology and minoring in criminology. She is planning to pursue a graduate program in clinical psychology after graduation. She is interested in conducting her own research on the relationships that adolescents and young adults have with their parents, and would also like to know how certain parenting styles affect children in the long run. This is Emma’s second year in CAP lab and she is currently helping out with a study on emerging adult’s relationships with their parents and the CoPE study. Outside of the lab, she is part of a student organization on campus that holds fundraisers for individuals that have been affected by traumatic brain injuries. In her free time, she enjoys movie nights with her friends and completing paint by number kits.

 

 

Evelyn Huang

Evelyn Huang is a second-year undergraduate student majoring in psychology. Her research interests include the impacts of attachment, parenting styles, and family interactions on children, particularly the development of neurodiverse children. In the lab, she is currently working on recruiting families for a new research study. Outside of the lab, she enjoys singing karaoke with her friends, reading, and finding good food in town.

 

 

 

 

Justin Ungler

Justin Ungler is a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med path. He is currently working on a meta-analysis under the guidance of Kubra Aytac and will be switching projects following the completion of the meta-analysis to work underneath Tinu Oduloye for the COPE Study. Outside of the lab you may catch him lifting or hanging out with friends.

 

 

 

Holly Wibbeler

Holly Wibbeler is a second-year undergraduate student majoring in psychology and minoring in human development and family science. She primary research interests pertain to parent-child relationships and the impact of parenting on children’s development. After she graduate, she plans to attend graduate school and work as a counselor for parents and children. Outside of the lab, she loves to read and spend time with friends and family!

 

 

Jasmine Graham

Jasmine Graham is a first-year majoring in Psychology and Political Science, with a minor in English. Her primary focus for research revolves around developmental psychology and the impacts child socialization and parental relationships have on future behavior. After graduation, she plans to use her experience from the lab in the legal field and continue forward to law school. Inside the lab, she is helping with a study on emerging adult’s relationships with their parents and working alongside Kubra Aytac to analyze parent-child relationships and attachments in a longitudinal study. Outside the lab, she enjoys reading, specifically classics, drawing, and watching movies with friends and family.

 

 

 

Jona Qalliaj

Jona Qalliaj is a sophomore majoring in psychology and minoring in studio art. She plans on applying to grad school to receive her Ph.D. in clinical psychology and wants to become a psychologist with a primary focus on children and adolescents. This is her first year at the CAP lab and hopes to continue to learn more about research and utilize her love of statistics. Outside of the lab, she works as a Peer Expert for PSYCH2220 and on her free time she enjoys painting, crocheting, and spending time with her cat.

 

 

 

 

Meghan Hickman

Meghan Hickman is a first-year undergraduate student majoring in psychology. Her primary research interests revolve around developmental psychopathology and the behavioral effects of positive parent and child relationships. In the Children and Parents Lab, she is helping to analyze parent-child relationships and how socioemotional development has progressed and differentiated years after the families’ initial CAP Lab participation. Outside the lab, she enjoys reading, music, going for walks, and spending time with friends and family.
