“La Passion/ Le Brassier (Statue)” by Sydney Kit

The original “La Passion/Le Brasier” was a quick five-minute sketch that I created to be
wheat pasted on the wall outside of Hopkins Hall at The Ohio State University. I have always
had a fondness for this random quick sketch I did. I wanted to show the interlocking of lips, but
not on any one person. I also wanted to challenge how many pairs of lips I could put together
before the scene would be too distracting. The final statue consists of three pairs of semi-
transparent lips of three different colors, overlapping each other in a cascading triangular form.
The cascade is not of a large distance so that when the viewer looks at the statue from a head
on direction, the three pairs of lips will appear like the initial inspiration.
