Phantom Ultrasound Models

All models here were created by me as part of completed or ongoing research projects through the Division of Ultrasound in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Ohio State. All projects received institutional IRB approval.

Abscess Model

This model was created as a cheap and easy-to-make practice for medical students and residents to improve incision & drainage skills.

Gallbladder model

This model received grant funding from the Ohio State Innovation studio for large-scale production and assistance with materials engineering and design through the 3D Printing Lab at OSU. Pictured here is the models in their ballistics gel mold, as well as a side-by-side comparison of a human gallbladder and our model showing biliary sludge.

Parotid gland model

This model was created in conjunction with ENT colleagues to visualize and measure salivary gland stones. Picture here is our gland model with a large stone and markings showing the ability to measure the diameter of the stone to assist with management options.
