Emergency Department Ultrasound Scans
All scans were performed by me under the supervision of a either an attending or resident physician, and used to guide management. All identifying patient information has been removed.
Bowel Obstruction
This ultrasound on a patient presenting with nausea and vomiting shows characteristic signs of bowel obstruction including “to-and-fro” movement of intraluminal contents.
Retinal Detachment
This ultrasound on an ED patient with sudden vision loss shows the characteristic floating membrane within the vitreous. I consulted ophthalmology who took the patient for immediate surgical intervention.
FAST Exam
This normal RUQ FAST Exam shows the patient’s liver and right kidney, as well as the hepatorenal space. No fluid is evident in the space on ultrasound exam.
