About Me
Hello to all members of The Ohio State University and surrounding community members,
My name is Kristen Elizabeth Buzaki and I am a first year at OSU. I grew up in Stow, Ohio which is just north of Akron and I was born on December 30th, 1997 (which is also the same day LeBron James was born). That is my only claim to fame. I was raised by my parents, Steve and Sherrie Buzaki, whom have both been major influences in my life, motivating me to strive for success. As I have grown older, they have consistently reminded my brother, Kyle, and I that hard work is incomparable to any other quality in a successful person. Now that I am enrolled in The Ohio State University, it is my time to travel on my journey to success.
In high school, mathematics courses were the classes that I always excelled in and eventually prompted me to take an AP Statistics course. After enjoying the content more than any class I have ever taken, I decided to research jobs that dealt with Statistics which led me to choose actuarial science as my intended major. I am excited to become an expert in the math field and participate in lifelong learning, as actuaries must continually test their skills throughout their career.
Along with actuarial science, I feel overjoyed to be taking German language courses and hopefully obtaining a minor in that field. Travelling to Germany and Switzerland in eighth grade and at the end of senior year allowed me to immerse myself in a new culture. While visiting German relatives, I was able to experience new food, languages, lifestyles and historical sites which created a lifelong passion in me to travel. I hope to become fluent in German and eventually do an exchange trip to Germany during college.
While working towards my goals of becoming a skilled actuary and speaking fluent German, I will also participate in intramural volleyball, German Club and STEM EE Scholars. Outside of OSU, I will continue to volunteer at the HOBY Leadership Seminar as a group leader/mentor. In order to volunteer there, I must complete 100 hours of service per year which I plan on doing through STEM EE opportunities and other opportunities in Columbus. As hobbies, I enjoy making friends and staying active at OSU.
Throughout the next four years, I plan on focusing on my studies in order to become an expert in my field. However, whether my participation be in actuarial science, German or service opportunities, I look forward to continuing to work hard, as my parents taught me, paving the road for success in my life.
Sincerely,
Kristen Elizabeth Buzaki
