Semester Recap

My first semester at OSU was one on many ups and downs but I am glad to say that it was one with more highs than lows. I did okay in all my classes and I managed to make some friends that I know I’ll have for a long time. OSU is truly my home and I can’t wait to continue. In the school of music I already feel like I know twice as much as I knew coming in. My playing on my tuba has improved a lot and I love all my professors especially my tuba prof Jim Akins. I also feel accepted for who I am and that is a great feeling. I can’t wait to see what next semester brings!

My First Week at OSU

My first week at OSU was one of the best but also most stressful weeks of my life. It all started on Saturday August 18th, move in day. I arrived to the arena at 8:30 in the morning and received my room key. Then it was off to Baker West which I had heard was terrible. Inside it was very hot and humid and I was already not looking forward to living there. Eventually I got all my stuff moved in and my parents left and I began to discover why Baker West is best. That night I met everyone in my section of the hallway  and met my two closest friends. All of a sudden, Baker West wasn’t such a bad place to be. Sunday and Monday were great but then came the start of classes on Tuesday. Personally Tuesday is a really easy day for me so that helped a lot. Wednesday however is fully booked and it was a stressful intro into what my life would be like. However, by Friday I had fully adjusted to classes and I was really excited for the weekend. My first weekend was awesome and I met even more new people. After a week at Ohio State, it was already home.
