Scientific Meetings

The Bumgardner laboratory is routinely involved in presenting research and networking on a local, regional and national level.

Annual OSUWMC Trainee Research Day: Research Day is an annual event featuring the biomedical research of trainees within the OSU Medical Center. This group includes graduate, undergraduate, medical and MD/PhD students of the OSU College of Medicine, as well as postdoctoral fellows and researchers and clinical residents and fellows. Held each spring, Research Day features posters from hundreds of trainees, a trainee speaker series, and a keynote address by a world-renowned researcher in the field of biomedical science. Faculty members judge poster presentations throughout the day, and travel awards are given to the highest-scoring trainees.

OSU Department of Surgery Annual Research Conference: The conference brings together students, residents, fellows, faculty and guests to share and discuss results of research relevant to surgery. It’s also an opportunity for all students training with faculty in the Ohio State Department of Surgery to develop their scientific communication and critical thinking skills. Each year, the department hosts the Zollinger Visiting Professor, a prominent leader in surgery, to spend a day and a half meeting with residents and faculty and serving on a panel of judges for the research. Presenters later receive written feedback about their presentations including suggestions to enhance the content, delivery or visual presentation of their work.
