The Bumgardner laboratory is routinely involved in presenting research and networking on a local, regional and national level.
Annual OSUWMC Trainee Research Day: Research Day is an annual event featuring the biomedical research of trainees within the OSU Medical Center. This group includes graduate, undergraduate, medical and MD/PhD students of the OSU College of Medicine, as well as postdoctoral fellows and researchers and clinical residents and fellows. Held each spring, Research Day features posters from hundreds of trainees, a trainee speaker series, and a keynote address by a world-renowned researcher in the field of biomedical science. Faculty members judge poster presentations throughout the day, and travel awards are given to the highest-scoring trainees.
OSU Department of Surgery Annual Research Conference: The conference brings together students, residents, fellows, faculty and guests to share and discuss results of research relevant to surgery. It’s also an opportunity for all students training with faculty in the Ohio State Department of Surgery to develop their scientific communication and critical thinking skills. Each year, the department hosts the Zollinger Visiting Professor, a prominent leader in surgery, to spend a day and a half meeting with residents and faculty and serving on a panel of judges for the research. Presenters later receive written feedback about their presentations including suggestions to enhance the content, delivery or visual presentation of their work.
Denman Undergraduate Research Forum: Undergraduates have an additional opportunity to present their research, develop presentation skills, and receive constructive feedback.
Great Lakes Transplant Immunology Forum: The Great Lakes Transplantation Immunology Forum (GLTIF) is an annual meeting that was inaugurated in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2000 to provide a regional forum to share ongoing research findings, get feedback on new research ideas, promote networking and generate research collaborations.
American Transplant Congress (ATC): The American Transplant Congress is the Joint Annual Meeting of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST). ATC provides a forum for exchange of new scientific and clinical information relevant to solid organ and tissue transplantation and brings together transplant physicians, scientists, nurses, organ procurement personnel, pharmacists, allied health professionals and other transplant professionals. The educational offerings provide attendees the opportunity to learn cutting-edge advances in research and exchange of ideas and practice in the field of solid organ and tissue transplantation.
American Association of Immunologists (AAI) Annual Meeting: National forum for researchers dedicated to advancing the field of immunology through the elucidation of the basic principles of immune function. AAI is dedicated to fostering the interchange of ideas and information among investigators, and addressing the translation of this information into clinical practice.
