Hello and welcome to my website about the history of the buildings around The Ohio State University. This website is targeted towards future Buckeyes and other people who are interested in the history of the buildings I looked into. The buildings that will be looked at are buildings I currently have classes in. I am doing this because it was something I was interested in when I got to campus seeing all of the buildings. I thought it would be beneficial to have my opinions and include the history of the buildings, along with the dining halls, to help future and current students.
My tour is different than the virtual tour that Ohio State offers because it offers opinions and facts about the building from a student and gives the building’s historical background as well. The Ohio State virtual tour only covers a select few buildings and locations on campus that would be included in the in-person tour. My tour offers buildings that aren’t included in either of those tours. These buildings are where classes are held and where the Traditions (the dining halls) are on campus. There will also be a map connecting the buildings I have looked at.
The buildings I chose to look at for this project are:
- Morrill Tower
- Enarson Classroom building
- Smith Lab
- Journalism Building
- Knowlton Hall
- Math Buildings
- Hitchcock Hall
- Ohio Union
- All three dining halls
My main sources for the information are listed under Building Info. I used the Ohio State Archives and found Buckeye Stroll which gave a majority of the buildings. The Smith Lab and The History of Electrical and Computer Engineering sites are what I used to get information about Smith Lab. The Other Info links are information about things mentioned that give more information on things, like the history of the electrical and computer engineering majors, the WOSU radio tower stuff. All Sources that I used are either listed on the side or bottom of the website under building info of other info. There are hyperlinks for specific words to get direct links to what is being talked about.
