Original Inquiry

This semester, I received the opportunity to do research with the Kopp Lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Kopp Lab focuses on cystic fibrosis. They focus on developing already known treatments for cystic fibrosis and making them better. Over the summer, I will be observing experiments and memorizing the procedures for the lab. After, about a month or so in the lab, I will be able to start conducting experiments and record my own data. I hope to add some aspect of diversity into this research by looking at how  cystic fibrosis affects the black community.

Global Awareness

This summer, I have had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Zambia, Africa. I am studying the culture and society of Zambia and although I have only been here for 1 1/2 weeks so far, I have already changed my perspective on the world. My expectations were exceeded and I have realized that western perceptions of Africa are inaccurate. I have learned numerous things about myself and my passions by interacting with the Zambian people and with the people on my trip. Overall, I am excited to finish out this trip and apply my newfound perspective and outlook to my life when I get back home.
