About Me

My name is Marianne Brown and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I attended Catholic school for 12 years and am now very excited to experience new perspectives and diversity here at Ohio State. My current major is Human Nutrition and I hope to be accepted into the Dietetics program next Spring. By playing soccer my whole life, health is something I have always been into. Exercise is a hobby but also a great stress release of mine. Restorative is a strength of mine and as a learner I have always been very good at problem solving.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Something I would like to do during my 4 years of college would be study abroad. In my survey class we discussed study abroad at Ohio State and many of the programs interested me. I took Spanish in high school and would really like to travel to a country like Spain where I could use my Spanish.
Original Inquiry: As a requirement for Dietetics, students must participate in an internship before taking the Registered Dietician exam. Before I apply for that internship my goal is to have prior experience in hospitals whether it been an internship or volunteering.
Academic Enrichment: Instead of taking all easy classes in order to have enough credits to graduate, I would like to fill up that extra time by declaring a minor in business.
Leadership Development: From the leadership class I took during the Fall semester, I have been able to develop my leadership skills. Now, I plan on spending the next three and a half years here putting those skills to work being a leader around campus and in a Student Organization.
Service Engagement: During my 4 years I would like to find a service opportunity to become very involved in instead of finding multiple I can be somewhat involved in. Also, I hope to raise money and participate in Buckeyethon.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Ohio State Acceptance Letter: My acceptance letter to Ohio State is a important representation of all the hard work I put in academically during high school. Going to this school was always a goal of mine since freshman year of high school. My counselor told me if I wanted to get in I would  have to work very hard. Finally receiving that letter felt like all my work paid off and it was a very proud moment for me.
