Though this looks like a picture of an ordinary buckeye, it means so much more to me. I was a freshman like everyone else at orientation this summer. I was sitting in the Ohio Union, beyond excited to have my new iPad, to be able to schedule new and exciting classes, when an old police man walked up to me. He told me many stories about the history of the university and of the many experiences his children had in their years here. At the end of our lengthy exchange, he reached into his pocket and pulled out this buckeye. He told me it would be good luck and asked me to promise to try my best through the seemingly endless struggles of college. To this day, I take the buckeye with me to every class to bring me good luck and remind me of that promise I made to that policeman.
