Honestly, coming in to college I did not particularly want or expect to get involved in research. After hearing and reading about the countless amazing research projects currently going on at Ohio State, I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass on. I recently reached out to a couple physical therapists doing research with people suffering with neurodegenerative disorders, and I should be beginning research with them next semester. When I am an upperclassman, I hope to complete some research of my own, possibly dealing with disabilities in developing countries.
G.- Global Awareness
To me, global awareness is the most important part of the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S. As I mentioned in my “About Me” section, traveling and learning about new cultures is something I am very passionate about. I already have a great foundation in global awareness from my semester spent in South America, and I plan on expanding upon that foundation throughout my time at Ohio State. If possible, I would love to minor in Spanish. I hope to complete study, research, or volunteering abroad while college. Although I don’t have the specifics planned out, global awareness is something I have experience in and want to continue expanding upon for the rest of my life.
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Karly Britt, and I am a freshman at Ohio State from Davenport, Iowa. I am currently majoring in Health Sciences, but I am considering changing to another major like Special Education or Medical Dietetics. Whatever I end up majoring in, my longterm goal is to become an occupational therapist.
I am very passionate about helping others, traveling and learning about new cultures, and my dog, Hilde (pictured below). Here at Ohio State, I hope to be able to continue my love for traveling by either studying abroad or completing service abroad. Last semester, I spent three months in South America learning Spanish, interacting with people from new cultures, and volunteering mainly in projects focused on sustainability and community development. I try to use the invaluable lessons I learned from my time abroad in all that I do. I have loved my first semester at Ohio State and cannot wait for the semesters to come! Go Bucks!
