SRA Requirements Include:
- At least a 3.5 GPA
- Minimum of a two semester commitment (fall & spring semesters). The longer the commitment the more preferable (ideal would be at least 2 years).
- At least a weekly 9-hour time commitment (12-15 preferred)
- Completion of the following:
- Human Subjects Protection (Biomedical):
- Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR):
- Conflict of Interest:
- Highly recommended:
- An interest in physical therapy, athletic training, biomechanics, athletic performance, rehabilitation, patient outcomes etc.
Primary SRA Duties:
- Data entry and coding
- Organization duties, which could include assembling research materials/data, making copies, developing protocol materials, literature searches, etc.
- Potential opportunities to assist with or conduct data collections with human subjects/participants
- Potential opportunities to assist in the writing process

- You may also receive independent study research credit (prior approval from Dr. Briggs required)
- A letter of recommendation (if you successfully complete your commitment)
- The depth of your experience in the lab is dependent on your personal interest and motivation to seek out opportunities to become more involved in the research process
- Opportunity to work in a fun, motivating environment with other clinicians, researchers, and students who have similar interests
- Potential for co-authorship on a scholarly article, abstract, or conference presentation.
Application Process:
- At least one 30 minute interview with Dr. Briggs and lab personnel/team member
- Letter of intent of joining the Briggs Lab outlining:
- your interests and goals
- why you think you would be a good fit for the lab
- on average how many hours a week you would be able to contribute to the lab
- how long you plan to commit to the lab (e.g. 1 year, 3 years, etc.)
- Resume/CV (with GPA)
- 2 writing samples (preferably scientific samples)
