Artifacts

My artifact from my first semester at the Ohio State University is Microsoft Excel. Now this may seem like an odd artifact at first, but it has played a large role in my position as treasurer of hall council. One of my responsibilities as treasurer is to create and maintain a budget and a ledger. I am in charge of tracking every expense of Drackett Tower, and making sure we stick to the budget I created. Microsoft Excel makes this process simple and effective.

Hall Council was one of the first things that I got involved with on campus, and it has been one of my favorite experiences. Working with my peers we have planned and put on a variety of events for the residents of the dorm. Some events include a 24-hour movie marathon, a Halloween door decorating competition, and taking residents to see the Columbus Zoo Wildlights.

About Me

My name is RC Brandes, and I am a freshman at the Ohio State University. I was born and raised in Upper Arlington, a town that is just a ten minute drive from campus. It was never my plan to attend the Ohio State University, as it is so close, and I wanted to experience someplace new. However, after visiting and doing some research, I found that this university was a place I would truly enjoy. I love connecting with new people, and this campus has provided the perfect opportunity to accomplish this. Some organizations that I have gotten involved in are the hall council of my dorm, in which I act as treasurer, Scarlet and Gray Financial, in which I am training to become a financial advisor for the student wellness center, as well as the Business Scholars Program. Before I graduate I would like to intern in a large city, join a professional business fraternity, and continue to expand my network.
