Academic/Career Interest

A fashion collaborative I am deeply interested in. It’s run by OSU alumni and is still in Columbus. The organization helps young people get started in the fashion industry. This allows creativity in the city to progress.

A book about fashion that I find interesting. The novel by James Laver focuses on the influence fashion has on culture, and the history of costuming “Through the ages”.

Semester in Review

As my first semester at Ohio State nears it’s end, I can’t help but reflect upon what I’ve learned thus far. I have discovered new passions, such as fashion and Retail, and left some old dreams behind, like being a science major. As I make this transition I feel confident that I’ll find the path I am supposed to follow and determine a career I will love!

G.O.A.L.S.

The G.O.A.L.S. set forth by the Honors & Scholars program  can serve as a general guide for how to succeed at Ohio State and beyond.  Global Awareness is the idea of being sensitive to other cultures and being educated on world events, specifically ones that relate to your area of study. I hope to increase my Global Awareness by studying abroad in  France or Italy, as those are related to my Fashion and Retail studies major. Original injury is how students can possibly contribute to the field  that they study in. I hope to do this by getting involved in a young fashion company here in Columbus and find a research area that interests me.  Academic enrichment is the deepening of a students understanding in their area of study  as well as the opportunity to pursue  subsections of that area of study. I hope to be academically enriched while pursuing a Fashion and Retail studies major as well as a possible minor in marketing. These will be supplemented by involvement in fashion related student organizations.  Leadership development can come from involvement in student organizations as well as simple life experience. Service engagement community allows for an individual to affect positive change in the community that they live in. I hope to accomplish this by staying in biological sciences scholars as there are many service opportunities presented throughout each semester.

Artifacts

The fashion related academic accomplishment I am most proud of is my Beta Club project from my senior year of high school. I entered a pair of refurbished jeans that I embroidered by hand in the state Beta Convention and was awarded first place in the Fiber Arts division. This demonstrates my aptitude for the technical aspects of the fashion industry.

About Me

Hi there! My name is Chloe Brake and I’m a student at The Ohio State University, where I’m majoring in Human Nutrition. I am originally from a small town in northwest Ohio called Van Wert. I’m currently involved in Biological Sciences Scholars and a volunteer program at Ohio State’s very own Wexner Medical Center. Throughout the course of my time here I hope to study abroad or do mission work overseas, build relationships with faculty members, and grow my leadership skills. Eventually, I hope to attend medical school and become a physician. Until then, feel free to explore my profile to learn more about me!

Go Bucks!
