The list below is not exhaustive, but we list some activities we have done in the past to get our students engaged in the community! Not pictured below are other opportunities including making dog toys out of old 5K t-shirts and the vast amount of work our students put in volunteering for our annual Brain Injury Awareness 5K.
NeuroNights
This is a community wellness program for survivors of brain injury and other neurological disorders. We developed this program equally with Ohio State’s Chronic Brain Injury Program and the Wexner Medical Center!
Blanket Making at the James
In April 2019, we made several blankets for patients receiving chemotherapy treatments at the James Cancer Hospital.
BRAIN BuckeyeThon Team
We have a BRAIN BuckeyeThon team that participates in the annual Dance Marathon raising money to support treatment for pediatric patients in the Hematology/Oncology Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital! In 2020, our team raised over $4,000 #forthekids!
February 8 – 9, 2019
KindCarts
We annually partner with KindCarts to craft succulents for patients at the James Cancer Hospital – and yes, that IS Chase Young at one of our meetings.
We also teamed up with KindCarts to make stress relief kits for cancer patients at the James Cancer Hospital in 2017.
Greeting Cards
In October 2018 and February 2019, we collaborated with KindCarts and Buckeye Student Nursing Association to create greeting cards for patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital Volunteering
In the past, we have volunteered with TBI patients at the Ohio State Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital.
