Week 11

comicstrip

This week’s project was very difficult for me because of my lack of interest in comics and the fact that I lost my flash drive with my entire project on it the day it was due. However, I wanted to try and tell a story of the Indians winning a World Series. This is what I envisioned happening in real life, but I guess this will have to do. I am a big Indians fan and a fan of baseball in general, so this was an easy subject matter to pick. This project really faced me to be good with the brush tools as well as layering my different panes strategically. I also incorporated some 3D artwork and text to try and make the comic more interesting.

Week 10

lindor-3d

I had a lot of fun with this week’s assignment. I used the type tools to write “Francisco Lindor” and to make the world series logo at the bottom. The background was plain blue, but I thought it would look cool if I applied the cloud filter to it. Then I used the order of the layers to put the clevaealnd skyline in front of the cloud background, but still kept it behind the picture of Francisco Lindor and behind the text and Indians logo.  I messed around a little with the 3D settings rotating the text and logos to change the shadow as well as the depth of the 3D text.

Week 9

magazine-cover

This week’s post consisted of making a magazine cover page. This required using the different text tools in photoshop a lot more than usual. For the title I used the horizontal type tool, but then I used the 3D modifier tool to make the title more attractive. I wanted it to pop, so I used a bright red color. I also thought it went well with the background colors and the posterize filter that was applied to the original image. Since I created it as a holiday issue, I also made the subtext green. I did not make this text 3D because I did not want it to take away from the title of the magazine.

Week 7

panorama0822

Panoramic photos are my favorite type of pictures. They give a much better depiction of scenery in my opinion. It makes the photo more personable because it makes it seem as if you are actually there. I have always been drawn to taking panoramic pictures especially on vacations. The first panoramic photo I took was at Sandals Resort in Turks and Caicos and I love it. I still have the photo to this day. The other favorite panoramic I have is from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey when I was at a Giants game. When I look at these pictures it gives me a different sense than regular pictures do. It gives me the sense of the entire atmosphere and helps me more vividly remember the entire environment.

Week 6

posterize

light-trace

I enjoyed this week’s assignment because it gave me the freedom to have fun and play around with the filters in photoshop. The first picture was a photo I had taken in Turks and Caicos last summer. I used a filter on it that made it look like it was a canvas painting and I really like it. I think it makes it look very artistic and gives it a unique twist. The second photo was a picture I had taken last winter in New York City. I used the posterize filter to make it look like an actual poster instead of a realistic photo. I think it is a fun twist and the colors make it seem like it has a cartoon sort of feel. The last picture is a light trace picture from out in front of my dorm. I really like doing the light trace photos and I tweaked the exposure and contrast to make the light pop more.

I decided to look around for a cool background for my portrait photos and stumbled upon a graffiti art wall in the park behind my room. Although she knew we were taking portrait pictures, the only picture that is not candid is the top one. I tried to take pictures when she did not expect it because I enjoy candid looks more. I used the brightness and contrast adjustment as well as an exposure adjustment in the photos. In the bottom one I made the vibrance adjustment to try and make the graffiti wall stick out more. I really liked how it turned out. I also used the clone stamp tool to put grass where there was a cup on the ground in the bottom picture.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

c5

This weeks pictures were focused on showing different perspective. The first photo is a bird’s eye view of a park behind my room. The changes in photoshop were only with regard to brightness and contrast. I did not want to modify much since I really enjoyed the sky. The same is true about the second picture where I used a ground view to make the picture look distorted. I really like the sky and the foreshortening of the picture. The third picture looks sort of distorted as well, but it is just the angle of the picture that makes it seem that way. The edits on this picture are also with regards to brightness and contrast, as well as a bit of an exposure change.

Week 3

cooler-temperature original-1  warmer-temperature spot-tone underexposedoverexposedoriginal

I am missing my little brothers a bit more than usual this week because Reis (the little blonde) just had is first day of preschool yesterday. I liked making an overexposure and an underexposure because both of them are artistic. The subject matter of Keyari holding Reis’ hand makes me love all of the pictures, but if I had to choose I would choose the regular exposure. The temperature pictures were fun to play around with and will be very useful if my white balance is off when I take a picture in the future. I would still stick with the original for now if I had to choose.

My favorite part about going home is walking through downtown Cleveland. Being a Browns season ticket holder is very hard emotionally, so sometimes we need a nice walk through our favorite parts of the city. First we had to stop in his office which gave me the chance to take in the city view from the bird’s eye. The city has been improving so much every year and the “mistake on the lake” is like a second home to me now. Until I save enough to live in New York when I’m older, that is. Even if I leave Ohio, Cleveland will always remind me of my first Browns game with my dad and all of the fun family memories this city has given me.
