Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I plan on studying abroad in France for a semester in order to improve my French language skills and become assimilated into the culture. I would also like to take part in the program Between France and Morocco in order to learn more about diversity in the Francophone world. I think these experiences will expand my global awareness along with being beneficial to my majors.

Original Inquiry: To reach this goal, I’d apply to some type of internship that would allow me to engage in original inquiry. I’d also like to get involved in research pertaining to either French literature or international relations.

Academic Enrichment: In order to achieve this goal, I’ll designate times for studying and participate in academic clubs, like Students for Refugees, that pertain to my interests and will grant me opportunities to learn from experience outside the classroom.

Leadership Development: I think it’s important to get involved with clubs that you’re truly interested in as soon as possible in order to get leadership roles in the future, but I also think it’s not necessary to have a title to be a true leader. To work towards my personal leadership development, I’ve become a floor representative in Taylor Tower and I’ve joined the executive board of the Swing Dance Club, because those are activities and communities that I care about and want to get more involved with!

Service Engagement: To build on my service engagement, I have and plan to continue participating in service activities around campus, and I’m involved with the club Students for Refugees, which is an organization that volunteers with and advocates for refugee children and families.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation is a reflective description of the artifact that attempts to communicate its significance.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. About Me

Hi all, my name’s Jackie! I’m from Cleveland, Ohio, and I’m majoring in French literature and international relations with a minor in dance. I’m not exactly sure what direction I want to go in career-wise, but I do know that I love literature and learning about new languages and cultures as well as pertinent issues in the world today! I also really love dance, and I’ve been doing that for fourteen years, so I’m happy I get to continue with that at OSU! In my free time, I love reading, drawing, dancing, watching movies, and spending time with my friends. I also like to travel, and I’d especially like to travel to France and study abroad during my time at OSU. In terms of activities, I’m on the executive board of the Swing Dance Club, I volunteer with refugee children through the club Students for Refugees, and I’m a floor representative at Taylor Tower! I’d like to take a wide range of classes both within and outside my majors and minor here at OSU, because I love learning about new things, and one of my goals is to broaden my horizons and expand my creativity and interests in and outside the classroom!
