About Me

My name is Sarah Bowe, and I am very excited to be attending OSU! My dad got his Masters from OSU and both of his siblings also went here. I have always wanted to go to The Ohio State University, and actually, it was the only school that I applied to. I think that was God’s plan for me because I can be very indecisive sometimes. I shudder to think about what a mess I would have been if I had to choose between several different colleges! Anyway, my hometown is Alliance, Ohio, and it has a population of about 10,000 people. It’s located in Northeast Ohio, about half an hour from Canton. I went to a pretty small school called Marlington, and I graduated as Valedictorian in a class of about 180. I took all the AP classes and Honors classes that were available, but because I went to a small school, I didn’t have a ton of opportunities. I’m really excited about that aspect of Ohio State. There are so many opportunities here and so many interesting people to meet. I think it will be one of my favorite things about this university. Just at orientation I met so many smart and interesting people and learned about all the programs Ohio State offers!

One of the reasons I chose Ohio State was because of its Neuroscience program. That is what I am majoring in, though I’m seriously considering Dermatology. I am currently doing Neuroscience because of a concussion I got in my freshman year that sparked my interest in the field. My concussion wasn’t very typical, and it is actually quite a long story, so maybe I will post about that later.

I think I will eventually pick up a second major in French language because it’s always been my dream to be fluent in another language, and I really enjoyed French in high school. I really love to travel, and I hope to one day do mission trips, so I think French would be helpful for that as well. I think I will definitely study abroad.

I’m not exactly sure what my long-term career goal is, but I’m hoping that Ohio State will help me figure that out. I think I would really enjoy being a dermatologist, or a Neurosurgeon, or possibly a Neuropsychologist. I really want to do something that would enable me to make a difference in the lives of others, whether it’s in my community, my state, my country, or in the world.
