Get paid to work on a research project full- or part-time over the summer!
Qualifications/Prerequisites for Eligibility:
- Complete 1-2 semesters of research for credit by enrolling in 2-3 credits of Biochem 4998 or Biochem 4999 with Dr. Bouley each semester
- Completed General Chemistry I and II (Chem 1210 and 1220) with a B- or higher
- Completed any other Chemistry and Biology courses with a C+ or higher (exceptions can be made on a case by case basis)
- Prepare a research proposal and apply for a summer fellowship/assistantship program (see below)
Summer Fellowships and Assistantships
- OSU Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP)
- Deadline: Mid-February or early March of each year
- Application Requirements: 1 page personal statement, 2 page research proposal, 1 page timeline of project, advising report, and faculty letter of support
- Funding: $13/hour to work a maximum of 38 hours a week for 12 weeks over the summer (456 hours)
- OSU Marion Summer Research Assistantships
- Deadline: Mid-March to early April of each year
- Application Requirements: Research proposal, budget, and faculty letter of support
- Funding: A total of $2000 to work 20 hours a week at $13/hour over the summer
- Undergraduate Student Pelotonia Scholars Program
- Deadline: January 15-February 15 of each year
- Application Requirements: 3 page research proposal, 3 letters of recommendation, high GPA (>3.8)
- Funding: $12,000 a year to work during the summer and following academic year at $15/hour
Other Scholarships and Funding
- College of Arts and Sciences Research Scholarship
- Deadline: Late October for Spring scholarships and late February for Autumn scholarships
- Application Requirements: Attained a junior standing, candidate to graduate with research distinction, project proposal, advisor recommendation
- Funding: $500-$8,000 towards tuition per semester
- Wm. Kay Davis Senior/Honors Thesis Scholarship
- Deadline: End of 3rd full week of Spring and Autumn semester
- Requirements: Must be a senior and completing a research thesis the academic year of the award and have at least 3.0 GPA
- Funding: $500 per semester
