Biography
Hello! I’m Elise Boos and I am studying Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife at The Ohio State University with a specialization in Wildlife Science. I am set to graduate December of 2020. On top of my studies I am a Teaching Assistant for ENR 2367 Environmental Communication as well as a small group coordinator for CHAARG which stands for Changing Health Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls.
Why I decided to pursue Global Option
I am a dual citizen of Canada and America which led me to begin my undergraduate career outside of the United States at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Upon coming to Ohio State I realized I didn’t want my global education to end. I learned about the Global Option and realized it was the perfect way to continue expanding my international knowledge while studying at Ohio State. Studying abroad is something I find extremely valuable to growth as well as to solving critical problems that require a global perspective. Especially in an environmental major, a global mindset is crucial to solving issues such as climate change.
My Goal for Global Options
My goal is to expand my global knowledge and intelligence. I hope to acquire the skills necessary to solving these global issues relating to the environment. I also strive to continue my international education into graduate school by studying outside the United States and international experience will allow for that transition to be a lot smoother for me.
Studying outside of the United States is important to learning about issues that expand beyond our borders, but also important to understanding our own issues from a different perspective. I hope to learn more about the issues the rest of the world faces, but also gain skills that will help to solve our own issues back home. Most of the problems relating to the environment span world-wide so learning about the world is crucial to attacking these issues.
Seeing the world is also simply a goal of mine. I strive to live a life of adventure and the Global Option allows me to learn more about myself on top of the rest of the world.
