About Me

Hello, my name is Ryan Boettcher. I’m from Rocky River, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland and am a freshman at The Ohio State University starting my fall semester. Currently I am majoring in Health Sciences, am on the Pre-Med track and plan on attending medical school. Although I’m not yet certain of what career I would like to pursue, I’m greatly interested in the medical field and science in general. My interest in this field was piqued following surgery for a labral tear in my right shoulder at the start of 2019, which provided me with meaningful insight into work in the medical environment, particularly with surgery and physical therapy. I chose to join the Health Sciences Scholars program to help me establish connections and garner experience for skills that will aid me as I pursue a career in the medical field, in addition to meeting new people and practicing healthy life habits.

My hobbies include hanging out with friends, hiking, participating in sports and being outdoors in general. In high school, I participated in several sports, including football, baseball, and basketball, but I’m looking forward to an even wider variety of sports here through intramurals and gaining valuable experience from volunteering and student organizations.
