About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Maya Bode and I will be a freshman this fall. I grew up in Grandview Heights and went to Grandview Heights High School. It’s a very small school, only 70 kids in my graduating class, and very close to campus so I won’t be far from home. I will be majoring in Biomedical Science with a possible minor, but I haven’t figured that out yet. I hope to attend medical school in four years and want to be a pediatric oncologist- I adore working with kids and recently volunteered on the Oncology floor at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and absolutely loved it. During my time at OSU I hope to conduct research with the hard sciences such as cancer or stem cells, but am also very interested in the social/behavioral side of medicine so I hope to be involved with that as well.

I’m excited to continue some of the activities that I did in high school. I worked on costumes for our school musical all four years, I started and ran a Gay Straight Alliance and am very passionate about continuing towards equality, I volunteered at Nationwide Children’s for three years and counting, and I travelled to many places, including Andros Island on a school science trip and Cadiz, Spain for an immersion program. I would love to study abroad and continue to learn Spanish and learn about other cultures.

I’m excited to meet new people and start this new chapter!
