Ohio Veterans NOW



The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is proud to partner with the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Veterans Organizations across Ohio, Team Argonaut, JLC Services, D2 Human Performance, Bowling Green State University, Perry Behavioral Health Choices, Mercy Health, and other partners in delivering the first publicly funded Veterans Pilot Program utilizing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders.


What is the program?

  • 30 sessions of painless, safe magnetic brain stimulation to retune brain rhythms given by licensed medical experts
  • 8 weeks of comprehensive wellness therapies and multidisciplinary specialist care at The Ohio State University addressing chronic pain, nutrition, sleep, exercise, coping strategies, and mindfulness; satellite sites have access to all of OSU’s online educational content
  • Individualized, team-based plan of care overseen by board-certified health care professionals in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Brain Injury Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Pain Medicine, Advanced Family Practice Nursing, Integrative Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Medical Massage Therapy, Athletic Training, Health Care Design Strategy
  • Columbus participants receive prepaid enrollment in OSU’s Exercise is Medicine – three one-on-one and 16 group sessions over 11 weeks with a credentialed fitness specialist
  • Innovative sensor technology and interactive apps to provide individualized feedback and motivation
  • Partnership of state, local, and volunteer organizations to equip Veterans with skills and resources
  • Data science initiatives to inform future best practices for our Veterans


Who is eligible? Participants must be:

  • Veterans of the US Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserves
  • Residents of the State of Ohio
  • Struggling with substance use disorders or mental health disorders
  • Willing to participate in the intensive program
