Coaching- One opportunity I have been blessed to have for the past 3 years is being a swim coach. I coach for a local team based out of Chardon, Ohio and it was actually the same team I had swam with from the ages of 11 to 18. Swimming has always been one of my greatest passions in life and to be able to pass on all I have learned to younger swimmers is one of the most fulfilling experiences. One aspect that makes this job so special is all the life skills it has taught me. Not being from Chardon, this job posed a challenge for me at first as I had to branch out and adapt to a new community I was largely unfamiliar with. However, I found that without even realizing it, I had developed a second home within the Chardon community, forming relationships with families and swimmer that I will never forget. In addition this job has also allowed me to expand upon my team working abilities, my communication skills as well as my ingenuity and problem solving. This experience has shaped who I am today and I will always be grateful to have had such a rewarding experience.

Scholars Community- I have been fortunate enough to be apart of the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program here at Ohio State University. Although there are numerous things this program provides to enhance my academic career, I have been blown away by how quickly this program has shaped my life far beyond academics. Being in a scholars program here at Ohio State, we are required to live with those also in our scholars program, which provides us an opportunity to live with those who share similar interests and are like minded. Never would I have guessed though that I would soon be making life long friends who would shape my college experience for the better. In the friend group I have developed within my scholars program, we help each other grow as both students and young adults both in and outside of the classroom. We act as a family, working to ensure everyone is taken care of and succeeds. I cannot think of a greater environment to be apart of here at Ohio State.
