Application-Based Positions

Faculty Liaison: The faculty liaison attends every Undergraduate Studies Committee (USC) meeting, once a month, during the school year. These meetings will attended by faculty and staff from the BME department. This position is a great way to meet faculty and learn more about the department. At these meetings you will be the voice of BMES, all BME students, and will assist in changing the department for the better. 

Special Initiatives Chair: This position will allow BMES members to get involved in the organization immediately and gain leadership experience. This officer will act as lead for many projects that BMES has such as the Womens Event in the spring and the ongoing mental health initiatives. You will get a chance to plan events, speak at meetings and collaborate with the BME department. This position also has the ability to assist in other aspects of the organization such as mentorship, professional development, projects, event planning, and much more!

Networking Liaison: This position will allow students to get involved in the organization immediately and gain leadership experience. This officer will act as a spokesperson between BMES and other clubs on campus and between BMES and the outside community. You would be responsible for collaborating with other organizations on behalf of BMES! These events would include outreach with middle or high school students and collaborations with Makers Club or Salsa Club!

Outreach Chair: This position will allow BMES members to get involved in the organization immediately and gain leadership experience. This officer will act as lead for the outreach initiatives that BMES will undertake such as our high school outreach events and community impact events. In particular, you will be focusing on the topics of accessibility to STEM education in underserved communities, as well as themes of diversity and inclusion. This is a new position; we’re looking for someone who is passionate about making an impact on the community, and has the desire to make BME, BMES, and OSU a more inclusive and diverse place.

BioHack and Projects Committee Application

The BMES Projects Committee is looking for members for next year! The committee plans BMES’s annual BioHack in the fall and several other projects in the spring. BioHack is a day-long biomedical engineering-focused workshop similar to Hack-Ohio and Make-a-Thon. Other project events include a miniature ECG and working with other projects-oriented organizations on campus. Joining the committee will be a great way to get experience in event planning and working with companies, and is a great way to get more involved in BMES!
