Phones

Hi guys,

I noticed some missed calls since the start of the semester on the reference phone. Make sure that you are answering both the circulation and reference phones when you are on shift if Ryan and I am not here. If the person calling would prefer to talk to one of us, just get their name and phone number.

Thanks!
Vanessa

Checking in Calculators

Before you check in any returned graphing calculators, make sure you check the screen for damage. If you notice that there are any dark spots or cracks, I want you to see if there is a note in Sierra already documenting it. If there isn’t a note about the damage DON’T CHECK IT IN! You’re to give any newly damaged calculators to Ryan or Vanessa to inspect.

Here are the steps for checking for notes.

  1. Click on F3 on the key board while you have Sierra pulled up so that you go to the “Search / Holds” menu.
  2. Scan the barcode for the calculator and double click on the highlighted item from the list that shows up on the screen.
  3. On the next screen, check to see if there is a “m” field with a note about previous damage (see the screenshot below).
  4. If there is a note, check that the damage described matches what you see on the calculator.
    • If it doesn’t match or it looks like there is additional damage, just give it to Vanessa or Ryan without checking the item in.
    • If the damage matches what is listed in Sierra, check it in!

Gate Stats

Hi guys,

I know we’re almost to the end of the semester, but I really need you to pay more attention to your closing duties. I’ve had three people this week forget to mark down the gate count.

Cameras etc

While we wait to see if the ceiling is fixed behind the circulation desk, the cameras and other related equipment has been moved to the cabinet with the laptops. See Vanessa or Ryan if you don’t remember where these are located.

iPad adapter

Hi guys,

If a patron wants to connect an iPad up with the computers in the study rooms they’re going to need an HDMI cord (the cord that comes with the iPad charger) and this adapter:
You’ll find this adapter in the drawer with the headphones. The adapter can be plugged into one of the cords that comes out of the podium in the study rooms. Since there are two cords in the podium, you might have to switch between the two with the touch controller (black buttons with either green or blue outlines). These are touch activated so you won’t need to press hard.

If you’re totally lost or just want to see this in action, ask Ryan or Vanessa to show you what to do!

Lock the DVDS

Hi guys,

Make sure you lock the DVDs that are checked in for the regular shelves. Joczelyn found a whopping 30 cases that were left unlocked Monday night! Good eye, Joczelyn!!!

Evening shift 3/7/19 with Adam and Joczelyn

Hi Adam and Joczelyn,

Our custodian has been out for two weeks now and so our tables and dry erase boards are getting pretty grody. Please go through and wipe down all the tables and dry erase boards in all the public rooms and spaces: the Library Instruction Classroom, the group study rooms, the LCC, and the dry erase carts on wheels in the back.

Remember to look at the closing checklist as you leave.

Closing at night

Hi guys,

I want all of you to double check the closing procedures checklist to make sure you get everything at night. Even I use the list to close so I don’t forget something! Just this week we’ve had the handicap door left unlocked one night and the door count missing from another.

Grood Jurb

Hi guys,

We just wanted to tell you that you’re all doing a great job! We know this isn’t the most exciting job, but everything you do is a tremendous help for us when it comes to running the library. Thanks for all your hard work in the library!

Bus survey

Hi guys,

If you use the bus system on campus or around Mansfield, please fill out their 5 minute survey. RCRPC is looking at expanding where they have their routes and their pick-up times around the Richland County area, so your input will be useful to them.

Online Survey: https://arcg.is/0DzbO8

If you don’t use the buses, feel free to ignore this post!
