Work: Music producer and drummer
Q: What brought you to Japan?
A: I first came here in 2014 as a performer for the University of Japan for marching band.
Q: How has living in a different country changed your life?
A: It made me more open minded to know that there are more people out in the world than in my community where I grew up. It makes you mentally mature, and be ready to embrace change and different cultures.
Q: What advice do you have for Black youth and creatives?
A: You don’t know what you’re not exposed to. People might feel like they don’t have a chance to do what they want to do, but try studying abroad or studying something amongst other people to see how they live their life, there is more than what you see. You’ll see other peoples cultures and learn how to appreciate your own culture as well. Know what you want to do, align yourself with likeminded people who will push you to keep going when you want to give up.
