G.O.A.L.S.

In my time here at The Ohio State University, I plan to take advantage of the opportunities available and expand my educational experience by following the G.O.A.L.S acronym. In terms of global awareness, I am looking to pursue the WAIP internship in Washington, D.C. to begin my political influence and learn more about international affairs or foreign policy. By learning more about global issues I would like to be able to give a voice to those who are typically underrepresented around the world. Before I graduate from OSU I would like to complete my own research project. In this endeavor I would fulfill the original inquiry aspect of G.O.A.L.S by researching, and potentially holding a study, on how and why discrimination occurs in our world. I have questioned why discrimination takes place and how, if possible, we can stop it from happening in society since I understood what the word meant. By furthering my education I will be able to add to my skills and contribute to a more progressive society. Academic excellence is extremely important to me as I pushed myself all through high school to be accepted to Ohio State and become apart of the Honors Program here. To continue this tendency of academic excellence I will study, be attentive in class, and take advantage of resources when I need help. Throughout my life I have always been invested in being a leader and finding ways to become a better leader. I knew when I came to OSU I would have to continue my education in how to lead others, and I was excited for it. There are many ways to enrich my leadership development skills at Ohio State. I am currently involved in the Youth Democratic Socialists of America organization which I plan to organize and participate in protests such as the climate strike, the fight for $15, and LGBTQ+ legislation through. I will also use the club as an outlet for my political ideologies and to work together with others on creating a more accepting world. In the past I have been involved in service engagement by advocating for domestic violence victims, volunteering at the humane society, and spreading awareness while raising money for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. At Ohio State I plan to continue my service engagement and broaden my range of involvement, which would in turn widen my perspective on others struggles and how I can help.
