Graduate Student Council

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a successful semester start. I, Anneliese Antonucci, am the new Biophysics Delegate on the Council of Graduate Students (CGS). I have been assigned to the CGS Communication Committee and the Student Evaluation (SEI) Committee.  The first meeting I attend was about a 1.5 weeks ago. The main topics were:

New Delegate Orientation: I need to attend one and a social pizza party.

Grant Deadline Approaching: http://cgs.osu.edu/funding-opportunities/

Cybersecurity: Limited Details available for security (?) reason. Will be preforming random phishing experiments. Preventing Cyberattacks.

The date for the Hayes Research Forum has been set as February 26th.

R u Ok Buckeyes: http://cgs.osu.edu/blog/r-u-ok-buckeyes/

Working on raising minimum graduate stipend.

Inquiring about issues with changes in the medial insurance (specifically drug formula approval issues) as to fix it.

Delegate Outreach Grant: I referred this to the Biophysics Student Organization (BSO).

CGS Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CouncilOfGraduateStudents?fref=ts&ref=br_tf

Lots of career development events are posted here.

The CGS meets once a month. I will try and put up a summary more timely this month. The agenda and attendance are available to anyone who wants to see them.

BIophysics Goes To The Movies

Biophysicists the second summer event will be going to see Ant Man as a group. We have planned the event for Friday July 17th at 7:30 pm at the Lennox Theater. Should you decide you want to attend this event please email Anneliese (antonucci.21@osu.edu) by July 13th at midnight. This will allow us to buy tickets.

IGP Annual Symposium

Wednesday, May 27, 2015 – 8:00am to 6:00pm
Ohio Union

The 9th Annual IGP Symposium showcases the research of students belonging to the Life Sciences Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs: Biophysics; Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB); Neuroscience (NGP); and Ohio State Biochemistry Program (OSBP). Like past symposia, this year’s event involves the entire life sciences community at The Ohio State University, and is intended to provide opportunities to renew connections, forge new ones, and witness the great science being done by our outstanding students.Additional information available at: http://bioserv.mps.ohio-state.edu/igpsymp/2015/index.php.”
