This picture is extremely important to me because it represents some of the amazing people that I have met since coming to this large university.

Because Ohio State is extremely far from my hometown, around 10 hours to be exact, I was very nervous about meeting new people and making more friends. However, I soon realized that the best people that I would meet would be right on my floor in my dorm. Now only have I opened up to these people, but I know that throughout the years, we will maintain a very close friendship.

Without these friends, I know that my first year here would have been extremely hard. Through all of the hard classes, tests, and personal issues that I have experienced my first year, they have been there right by my side, and I know that I will be able to count on them forever.

When I joined the lacrosse team my sophomore year of high school, never did I think that playing a sport that would demand so much of my time, would change me into an extremely dedicated and hardworking person. My senior year of lacrosse bought a lot of changes for my team; we had a new coach who had never coached a lacrosse team before, and at least 10 new players joining.

Although it was a very rough season, having to prove to my new couch that I did deserve a starting role and the constant need to having to fundraise because we did not have enough money for transportation to our various games, it showed me that persistence is key.

In our final game of the post season, I scored my first goal of the season, unaware that that goal would be the start to help us attempt a comeback in a game that seemed over after the first quarter. Even though we did loose that game, the way my team rallied together and kept our heads up even though we lost, proved that life wasn’t just about winning and losing, but about trying your best even when things get rough.

If I had never joined lacrosse my sophomore year, or even if I had decided to quit the team my season year, then I would have never learned that even when things get tough, there’s always going to be a light at the end of the tunnel.
