G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I have a passion for travel which has taken me on a mission trip to Nicaragua and an exchange program to Barcelona, Spain. I believe that experiencing different cultures is vital to not only personal but professional development, and hope to continue increasing my global awareness by spending more time learning about other societies and immersing myself in their culture.

Original Inquiry: While I may be quiet in a classroom setting, this does not mean I am without questions. I often find that after I attend a lecture, I will develop questions when I review my notes and strive to find the answers on my own. However, I must acknowledge that there are times where I cannot find the answer on my own, and I seek assistance to help better my learning.
Academic Enrichment: Throughout my academic career, I have always looked for chances to challenge myself academically. In high school, this was through the form of AP and accelerated classes. Now in college, I have found that academic enrichment does not occur strictly based off the difficulty of classes, but my level of interest in them as well. For this reason, I am in constant search for classes that will not only challenge me academically, but classes which will force me to see ideas in a different perspective, and broaden my knowledge of concepts I though I knew.
Leadership Development: The Mount Leadership Society Scholars program has provided me with immense opportunity to develop my leadership skills. I have taken advantage of this by joining the Leadership Training Committee, which helped to plan Leadership Month, a month which was full of opportunities for members to attend events geared towards finding and bettering the leadership qualities they innately possess. It has been a true blessing to be a part of such an interactive committee.
Service Engagement: Another key aspect of the Mount Scholars is service to others. Through Mount, I have become involved in service projects such as selling empty bowls to raise money for the Mid Ohio Food Bank, as well as cleaning local parks after home football games. I am also excited to say I will participate in Mount Legacy Week this February as a member of Team Poverty, in which we will develop two service projects to help local agencies combat poverty. Needless to say, it is an exciting time to be in Mount!

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Artifacts

One artifact I hFullSizeRender (2)old close to me is a painting I brought back from when I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua. I hung it on the wall in front of my desk at home, and whenever I look at it, it reminds me of one of the best weeks of my life. During my trip to Nicaragua, I learned the value of service to others and developed relationships with people I thought I had nothing in common with. It was one of the most influential experiences in my life, and it was one of the things I reflected back upon when I decided to join the Mount Leadership Society Scholars.

About Me

I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and am currently majoring in finance and minoring in Spanish. In high school, I was co-captain of the varsity swim and dive team. We had an incredibly successful season, and won the Ohio Division 1 State Championship and were recently named NISCA National Champions! I finished 8th in the state in the 50 freestyle and was on the state champion 200 medley relay and the state runner-up 200 freestyle relay. I would also do one-on-one peer tutoring for Spanish in addition to working in a writing center to help edit and proofread essays that other students brought in.

Outside of school , I worked as a lifeguard at my local swim club over the summer and also ran a modest lawn care business which took care of about 5 properties, doing anything from cutting the grass and trimming bushes to taking care of the dog while the family was on vacation.

I am incredibly excited to join the Ohio State community this year. I am already involved by being a part of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars and am looking forward to finding new opportunities to challenge myself both academically and professionally. Go Bucks!
