Dawes Map, including Zand Education Center for our first class
Most of our sessions at Dawes will be in the Visitors Center, but this first class will meet in the ZAND EDUCATION CENTER. Use the main entrance to enter Dawes; check in at the gate (they will have a list of class participants). You can park in the main parking lot near the Visitors Center, then walk down the hill to the Zand Education Center. If you need closer parking, see this map for directions to drive and park adjacent to Zand.
Gather at 9:30 to allow time to park, find the classroom and settle in. We will finish up each day by 2PM.
Dress comfortably and for the weather. We will head outside each time we meet to enjoy our surroundings.
Please bring: your packed lunch, full water bottle, a cup for coffee/tea, a name tag if you have one (we will have stick on name tags)
Bring a check for $100 made payable to The Ohio State University. We will also have a credit card option on 2/18.
To get us on the same page for each class, we will share links to relevant papers. Take some time to review these papers and resources before we meet:
Bumble Bees in North America, Jamie Strange:
Pros and Cons of Lethal Bee Sampling:
The Ohio Bee Survey, 2017 – 2018
Also, you may want to skim this document (don’t feel like you have to read it front to back):

We have also added optional “Pinning Parties” to gather, pin and ID together:
