Universal Health Aid is a national organization that works to improve universal health, specifically in underserved areas, by focusing on preventative medicine, health education, and leadership development. I just found out that I was accepted as a new member of the Columbus branch. I attended new member training last week and learned that the club dedicates its time to events (educational programs, health screenings, fundraisers, etc.) in the greater Columbus area and right here on campus, too. I love that I will have a chance to help improve the health of some of my peers as well as the general public. Additionally, many of the other members in this club are interested in pursuing a career in the health field, which means that this club is also meant to provide a network of people I can rely on and look up to. The education that is required to obtain careers in the health field is often times extremely demanding, tiring, and trying, so having people I can turn to for advice and support when needed will make all the difference in the world, especially since they will completely understand what I am going through.
