My First Week at Ohio State University

My first week at college was so crazy. There were so many activities like the involvement fair, convocation, kick offs and much more and it was somewhat overwhelming, but fun. I was very nervous at first, but I learned to love the freedom and openness at the campus. The first week felt more like a summer camp than actually being moved in to a real college campus. There were tons of meetings to go to at like 9 A.M. and I really didn’t feel like getting up, but they ended up being fun activities that introduced me to new people in Baker Hall West. I didn’t get as lost as many times as I thought I would, but there was one day where I was trying to get to Hitchcock Hall without google maps and it took me about 40 minutes to find. I like my classes so far, as well as my professors, but I’m still worried about the work load. I had been assigned so many things within the first week and honestly carmen is hard to navigate at first so it was hard for me to keep track of things. One of the events that I really enjoyed was kick offs. I went with my roommate, Emily Ray, and it felt so cool being in the horseshoe. I think this was the first time I realized that I was truly a Buckeye and this would be my life for the next four years. There were so many cool performances and I would love to be involved in stuff like that if I can ever find the time. I got to see the band do Script Ohio, the cheer squad do their routine and I got to see myself on the big screen of the stadium. I never could really grasp how big this school was until I saw the stands filled with who I assumed were other freshman. At the end of kick offs, we got to go down and fill up a giant “O” that was formed by the marching band and there was lots of good, free food. The first week may have been a lot to take in, and very, very hot outside, but I had lots of fun and finally feel like an Ohio State Buckeye.

Artifacts

My first semester at Ohio State has been fairly rough and there have been more downs than ups, but I think this will help me grow as a person. I have learned a lot through the difficult times and I hope for next semester to be much better. I have made a lot of new friends who have helped me through some of the rough times and I hope to continue being friends as well as make new ones.
