Paris Climate Conference

Besides two courses in Fall 2015, I decided to fund my own trip to volunteer for Sierra Club and Citizens Climate Lobby with activities surrounding the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 21st Conference of Parties (COP 21) meeting in Paris, which took place from November 30, 2015 – December 12, 2015.

Ever since participating in the model climate change negotiations in ENR 7380, I had been wanting to see the real thing for myself, and COP 21 was widely expected to reach an historic agreement.  Unfortunately, the UN greatly reduced the number of badges available to get into the conference, so I did not see the negotiations themselves.  However, I had been told that it was worth going to the conference regardless because of the number of activities outside the negotiations, and I found that to be true.

I never lacked for activities to attend and usually had to choose between several amazing events.  The agreement that came out of Paris was historic, as were the demonstrations, presentations, festivals, films, art projects, and other activities surrounding the conference.

You can find my daily posts including photos and videos from the trip in reverse chronological order under the COP21 category in this blog.
