Dine with the department (scholars event)

I recently attended the Vet-med dine with the department scholars event.  This event was a fantastic opportunity to meet faculty from the veterinarian school and learn about the application process.  The session was informative and helped me learn what is expected of graduate school applicants.

I’ve been passionate about healthcare from a young age. Whether that’s anything from learning about my own personal health and body to playing doctor I’ve had passion for the medical field.

About Me

My name is Jacob Beal and I am a Biological Sciences Scholar.  I am a part of the graduating class of 2021 and couldn’t be more proud to call myself a Buckeye!  I am a Biochemistry major and hope to pursue a career in medicine after my time in school.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Global Awareness: In a world where information moves instantly and the opinions of people from all over the world can be accessed on a cell phone it is easier than ever to be globally aware.  I try to be globally aware by understanding the opinions of others (especially those with different viewpoints than my own).
Original Inquiry: Being in a science major (biochemistry) original inquiry is what drives me to learn.  Original inquiry is analogous to curiosity in many respects.  My curiosity of chemistry and biology alike is what drives me to try to ask new questions and find their answers every day.  Whether it’s in or out of the classroom original inquiry and curiosity is what drives me to learn new things.
Academic Enrichment: Academic enrichment is the main goal of college and school in general.  Academic enrichment becomes so much more rewarding when you find something you’re passionate to learn about.  Environment is also an important factor in academic enrichment and Ohio State provides one of the best environments for academic enrichment.
Leadership Development: Leadership development is an extremely important quality because of its practicality.  Leadership can be useful in a large number of ways such as sticking out as an applicant to making a difference in the community.  Being involved in clubs has helped me develop leadership skills.
