This is a group project that was completed in my GES seminar. The topic covered is hydro power and dams, one of the more controversial forms of renewable energy. This topic is relevant to cover because there are so many dams scattered across the globe. It’s important to analyze how useful or how threatening some of these dams are. A further analysis of hydro power is also important because it is a steadily used form of energy.

About Me

Grad

On November 7th, 1997, my mom’s water broke while trailing the moving truck to our new home. After being rushed to the hospital, I rushed into the world in 20 minutes. The next day, I moved into my home into Pickerington, Ohio and stayed there for 18 years (and counting).

From the very start I was born and raised a Buckeye. Sports and competition dominated my childhood and shaped me into the person I am today. I played and competed in everything my parents would let me, and I was not a good loser. I began to realize that whatever career I went into, sports had to be involved.

Deciding my major was originally difficult, floating from engineering to pre-medicine to marketing to athletic training and so on. The deciding factor came with my great uncle Victor. He was a doctor his entire life, and had always urged me to do the same. When he passed away over the summer of 2016, I felt I knew what I had to do. I decided to study Biology and become a sports doctor specializing in orthopedic surgery.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Global Awareness: A goal I’ve accomplished in Global Awareness is traveling to Jordan. I’ve always wanted to visit the country my family is from and to do so was amazing. The differences between a third-world country and a first-world country are truly remarkable. It was eye-opening to see the difference. A goal I’d like to accomplish at OSU is to study abroad. One of the places I’d like to go is Switzerland. Something that would prevent me from studying abroad is money. It’s definitely not cheap to do this so I would probably have to earn a scholarship for it.

Academic Enrichment: A goal I’ve accomplished regarding Academic Enrichment was getting my target score on the ACT. Getting this score helped me earn the scholarships I did and greatly reduced the cost of college. Something I’d like to accomplish at OSU is getting a high enough GPA to get into medical school. Graduate schools also look at involvement and research so I want to do as much of this as possible.
