Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Of the Honors and Scholars “G.O.A.L.S.,” I am most obviously being pushed under the “A” or Academic Enrichment portion. In high school, it was all too easy to push aside studying and not put forth my best effort in class or work  because it was, in a sense, easy. And of course, I came in with a similar mentality and I have paid the consequences. I’m being challenged now to master the material to make up for the poor grades I started the semester with. I have had to give up a part of  my social life to spend more time studying and doing work. I now realize that in order to succeed, more sacrifices are needed to be made.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Artifacts

IMG_9825

My Dad is definitely a symbolic artifact in my life from an academic standpoint. In his early years of schooling, he struggled- with below average grades and recommendations to retake courses. He pursued each and every day with his best effort  and eventually graduated high school in the top 25 of his high school class. Furthermore, he got a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Akron University. His experiences and past have pushed me and continue to push me to put forth my  best effort at all times. I am thankful to have such an encouraging and hardworking father to be my role model.

About Me

My name is Michael Barth, a freshman student at The Ohio State University. I am a part of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars community and a direct Fisher College of Business student. Currently, I am studying Business Economics but intend on switching to Business Finance in the near future. At this early point in my collegiate career, I am unsure of the exact profession I wish to pursue, however, I am enthralled to be a part of this upstanding university and all that it has to offer as I am certain there will be opportunities to discover myself and how I plan to live the rest of my life.
