Checkpoint 3: Three Takeaways

This class has helped me become a better online learner by showing me how to successfully study, manage my time and use various online technologies to better prioritize and complete my work. Below are three main takeaways from this class that have helped me to improve my ability to learn online.

1.) A huge aspect of completing coursework proficiently is time management. This is crucial to planning, studying, and acting efficiently. This can be done by establishing a schedule, accomplishing one task at a time, creating a productive study environment, and asking for help when need be. It is important to understand yourself and where you spend a lot of your time. Also, to study effectively, you must create an environment where you will learn best. That means eliminating distractions, turning off electronics, and having everything you need to study. This will help you to better manage your time altogether.

2.) There are many useful apps and tools to help you create a schedule. During this course, we used apps like Study Manager and Trello. It can be downloaded onto any device and used at any time. 3.) As a student in this day and age, it is becoming easier to find tools to use to study and learn. We went over several useful tools including OneNote, Mindup, and Google Keep. There are a plethora of tools for studying/remembering tasks depending on the person. OneNote is a note-taking app to organize thoughts and categories. Different media can be pasted together and notes can even be written. Work is also shareable with others. MindUp is a website to help students mindmap. This helps students to organize their thoughts and stay focused. Lastly, Google Keep is a website to help students remember different things. Students can record voice memos, create to-do lists, save pictures, and add post-its.  All apps and websites can be utilized on different devices to help students be proactive anywhere they go at any time. We also had discussion boards that allowed us to share technology we tried or technology we use to help us learn. It’s always beneficial to hear the tips and tricks of others and try to incorporate new information into our own learning strategies. As technology advances, it is important to understand the technology and be able to utilize its features for our benefit. This can create a productive environment and increase productivity among individual work and group work.
