About Me

I am going to Ohio State because I think it will make me a more rounded person. I went to Medina High School, a place that does not have many minorities, making it predominantly white. This is not the case with OSU because it has many different races that each contribute something beneficial to the life of all students. I would like to be a part of that. To learn from each group of people and adapt those things into my own culture.
In high school, I balanced academics with athletics. I played soccer for the school in the fall, and then played for my club team in the winter and spring. Most weekends during the Spring I had to travel for tournaments and regular season games. It made it tough trying to do homework and studying on weekends. It did teach me life goals. It taught me the value of commitment and perseverance. These things are carried over all through life.
In school, I was a good student. I finished in the top ten percent of my class. My GPA was over a 4.0. I was taking the more difficult classes and, on occasion, struggling learning the material. I did this rather than taking the easy way out with the less difficult classes. Those classes have given me greater depth of knowledge that I would not have been able to have without challenging myself.
I am planning on studying Mechanical Engineering at OSU. It is the broadest engineering degree and thus will allow me to have more job options when I graduate college. I would like to study abroad if I have time in my schedule. It allows people to experience a culture totally different than what they are used to. After working as an engineer for some time, I would like to go back to school and get a law degree so that I can become a patent lawyer. These are all dreams of what I would like to do, but things do change.

Year in Review

Over the course of my first year as a freshman engineering student at OSU, I learned a lot of valuable lessons that will be needed in the future.  I learned the value of having friends to count on when I have questions or am struggling to understand something.  Similarly, I learned how important it is to help other people who are asking for help and the importance of being able to work in a team setting.  In both the first and second Introduction to Engineering class, there was a group project at the end of the semester that required a lot of time and required that we be able to work efficiently with other group members.  Of course working within a group will always generate friction and come with its own set of frustration.  Over the course of the two semesters, I was able to handle working with a group and generated a better attitude towards working with a group.

With all the pressure that college puts on people, I believe that I handled it pretty well.  I was able to come out of my first year with friends that I can count on for the rest of my college career as well as earning good grades that will aid me in my job and internship search moving on in the coming years.  I learned the value of dedication so that I could get all my work that I needed to get done on time without having to struggle at the last minute.  In my future, these skills that I have attained will be developed in the future and will be very useful after my college career is over.

Green Engineering Scholars Presentation

This project talks about the effects of Hoover Dam on the environment.  It discusses benefits of the Hoover Dam as well as the consequences to the ecosystems around the dam.  While the Hoover Dam provides electricity to thousands of people but the organisms in the water and nearby are harmed by it.  This project was useful because the idea of hydroelectricity is important to me because it is a free form of energy that does not produce green house gasses, but the negative effects should be brought to attention.
