Online learning is different from traditional face to face class learning. It is important for learner to utilize variety of resources and technology, and manage time to accomplish the course. Online learning can be different if learner uses different methods, so it is quite important to understand how to effectively learn the course online.
Online learning is very flexible because there is no specific time period for learner to take the course, therefore learners need to manage their time in order to accomplish each goal in different period. Flexibility not only gives the freedom of how and when to learn the course but also gives the responsibility for learners since there is no face to face course with a professor to supervise their progress and schedule. Self-management will be a crucial point to succeed as an online student. The online student himself will be the only supervisor and responsible person for the online course(Gatlin 2015).
From my perspective, challenges I had experienced about online learning are time management and how to use different resources to acquire knowledge from the course. There will be many things going on while taking the online course, so how to manage the time for course and things outside the course or traditional course is significant.
Learner can acquire knowledge through distinct ways including online textbook and resources online. There are great learning resources and technology on OSU website for learner to use. The ODEE Resource Center and the Writing Center Online Service are attractive to me. These resources can help me find the resources for the topic I need, and the other technology can help me improve my writing skills through online. I am planning to use them for my future studies to obtain knowledge I need.
There are some elements to determine my success for online learning. Time management is the most important one, and how to acquire knowledge is also crucial for the success for online learning. I will make a schedule for my online courses to manage my time to accomplish each goal and assignment for the online course, and I will plan ahead to ensure I have enough time to accomplish my course at that time period. Moreover, I will utilize those resources and technology provided to learn more from the course.
