This is the stage where the pallets and boxes of banana’s are received from the transport service and prepped to be loaded into or onto a number of different things. They could be transferred to a storage facility or the banana’s could be sent to be taken off the pallets they were originally transported on. The fruit ca also be sent to the labeling center or just go straight to the ship. It doesn’t have to go to one or the other though. The banana’s can theoretically travel to all four of those facilities before finally shipping to the unloading port (Banana Supply Chain Traceability). At the unloading port, the pallets and containers of banana’a are taken off and put on the final shipping transportation. The containers just mentioned are taken directly from the previous shipment to the loading port. They are still in their climate controlled conditions. From this point, the transportation tends to be by railway or by road (Hamer, Ed). At this point, the banana’s are away from the country in which they started. The transport and receiving stage is when they are shipped to different countries to the loading port.
