Career
My time at Ohio State has presented me with many opportunities and experiences that have truly changed me. Now as a sophomore, I am finally assured in major, which is Operations Management with a minor in Environment, Economy, Development, and Sustainability. Getting to this point took a lot of failure and practice, but I am confident in my new path and excited to begin my career.
This year I have begun taking my business core classes and have been surprised in how much the material interests me. I feel I am learning concepts that will help me prepare for a future career. I also have been working as a lab grader for the excel class within Fisher College of Business. I believe the skills I am learning within my campus job and classes will help me within my future job.
These skills I am developing helped me receive an internship for the summer with Williams-Sonoma. I am very interested in the manufacturing world and cannot wait to begin working with this amazing company!
Artifact 3
Through my year of service I have been working with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. This work has greatly boosted my confidence and optimism. Every time I go to volunteer I am amazed by how the community gathers around this organization. I have sorted through literal thousands of pounds of donations and to see the love and time people put in to help others is really inspiring. The photo I used for this artifact shows one of these amazing donations. I am very grateful to be working with this organization because I love learning about the non profit field and seeing the community work together.
Year In Review
I am incredibly grateful for every experience from the past year. My freshman year was full of extreme highs and lows, but overall I feel I’ve grown more this past year than in my entire life. Coming to Ohio State I had a misguided view of myself and my goals. Once here though, I learned quickly through my Mount Scholars program and my classes who I truly am. I’ve become much more confident in myself and have noticed a visible change in how I interact with others. This year helped me realize some skills I never knew I had. I was able to get into the Fisher Business School and feel more self-assured about my future than ever. There were a lot of drawbacks this year, but I made the most of it and feel I’ve matured greatly.
About Me
Hello, my name is Abi Baldwin and I am a freshman at Ohio State. I am currently undecided in my major, but have interests in science and business. I went to Stow-Munroe Falls High School and am also from the city of Stow. There I was a part of Rotary Interact Club, NHS, Executive Committee, Soccer, and Choir. I was an officer in Rotary club and continue that passion for service now in college.
At Ohio State University I am involved in Mount Leadership Society Scholars Program and am on Mount’s Service Committee. I have also joined sailing club and am looking to become a part of multiple other student organizations. I would like to join an academic club as well once I decide a major. In the future, I would love to work for nonprofits and make a difference.
