These jobs are good choices for me because I have their educational requirement of a bachelor’s degree and I have about 2 years of supervisor experience in a nursing home. Based on the recruiting manager position and the assistant living director position, both jobs gave a statistic of women being more favorable of 65% – 82% in these positions. The assisted living director job similar to my current job as a registered nurse and my previous position as a supervisor while I was working at a nursing home. On the same hand, both jobs can also be similar to my intended major. My intended major is to get a master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). If I’m fortunate to acquire this degree, I will be in the position as the unit manager to whom the recruiting manager will be collaborating with and I will also be able to carry related duties as an Assistant Living Director. I am pleased with the salary and there is a chance of me making an earning more salary based on my years of experience in the nursing career. However, I believe that the level of my job satisfaction is more important to me than the salary.

My personal profile – class 1901

Description: This post is an assignment where we were required to write about something personal. I decided to write about my achievements since I entered the United States.

My name is Umu Bah, I live in Worthington. I have two children, a girl, and a boy. They are both college students. I’m currently working at The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC) as a registered nurse. I am interested in furthering my nursing education in Psychiatric

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I’m planning to apply this fall to get into the program. Since English is my second language and I’m weak in writing and grammar skills, I certain that starting by taking an English class would be beneficial to me. I decided to seek advice to get me into an English class that can help me improve my writing and grammar skills. I took a placement test and got into this level of English class. I’m hoping that by the end of this course, I will be prepared to enroll in the next English class -1902 and I will be able to write a good acceptance application essay to get into the PMHNP program.

I came to the USA in 1997. I got my GED. I started working as a Home Health Aide at a nursing home. There I first gained interest in the nursing career. I enrolled in a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program then passed my board exam and started working as an LPN. While I was working as an LPN, I decided to get my Registered Nurse License (RN). I enrolled at Columbus State Community College (CSCC); I completed my prerequisites and got accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Registered Nurse (BSN & RN) program

(my graduation picture from MVNU)

at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU). I earned my BSN and RN degree. I took my RN board exam and passed it. Then I started working at Mount Carmel West Hospital for about 4 years. I started working at The OSUMC about 2 years ago. I have gained a lot of experience in the nursing profession in general. As a result, I have decided to get my master’s degree in PMHNP. These are some of the major transitions I have made in my life in America.

Finally, I chose to study at OSU when I first started to think of employee benefits that are been offered to staff. I decided to take advantage of the tuition benefit so I can advance my educational level. I enrolled at OSU to start my career path. I have gained a lot of experience in different areas of nursing calling. I have made a decision to get my master’s degree in PMHNP here at OSU if I get accepted into the program. PMHNP is one of the areas in nursing that I am passionate about because I am a good listener, I like to give good advice to people, and show empathy to others. With such personalities that I have, I believe getting my master’s degree in PMHNP will be a good fit for me. Also, from my general nursing experience for many years working on the field of nursing and talking to my colleagues, I can say that the demand of PMHNP is one of the areas in nursing that is increasingly high. So, for my evaluation to get my master’s degree in PMHNP is the right decision that will help me contribute to professionals in my community.

Module 7 blog post

To my colleague: The most important thing I learned in this module is how to maintain my well- being by exercising. To exercise is something that I have always like to do and I make sure it’s on my daily calendar as my routine. Even with my busy schedule of school and work, I tried to incorporate time for my exercise. I found exercises to be my own coping mechanism to handle my stress and improve my thinking. Exercise has keep me going by relaxing my body, mind and brain. Since this stay at home ordered was implemented and the gyms are closed, I found it very challenging to keep my exercise schedule. However, I decided to use other home exercise methode like the insanity video workout to keep me on track. From this module, I watched a video that gave me a good reason why it’s important to exercise, how exercise is beneficial to the brain and body, and some exercise activities that I can practice at home like pushups, lunges, and burpees. My advice to other students is that school can be very stressful and challenging so it is important for students to make time to exercise so we can function academically, socially and maintain our well – being at the same time.

Module 6

Module 6 : To my colleague

On this module, I learned about the difference between search, researching, importing of verifying your source and criterias to look for when considering a source to be reliable. I found this lesson very important to me because it’s a resource that will beneficial to me during my academic writing.

I practiced that google, .com sites are not a reliable sites to go to when writing for academic level and needed a citation; however,  when I write an academic paper it’s the site I go to first to get general idea about the topic I am wright about. For a  reliable site, I go to . gov which is credible source and whether the article is from the Journal of Clinical Pathology, a peer-reviewed, and if the authors has the credentials to support their reliability of the source.

My advice to my colleagues is that, academic writing required reliable citation from a credible source.  You most research your articles and try to find out whether the source is reliable and being cited by someone who have the credential  for the particular topic you are write about. Since academic writing often required citation of a written paper from a  reliable source, therefore every academic writers should follow these criteria to properly cite their paper with a reliable source.

Module 3 Blog Post

This post is directed to my colleague students: On this modul I have learned and gained varieties of good ideas that I found valuable to me daily activities. The one topic that I found most important and it is beneficial to me on this module is the time management skill. I found this skill most important to me because it helps me manage my daily activities in a meaningful timeframe. As we all know time is very essential especially when you are in school taking couple classes and have a full time work with family life to deal with. Therefore, I have started to do my school work in my dining room, away from my bedroom with TV on or having my cell phone by my side. So far by using this skill has helped me be more proactive in my time management. It has helped me finish my assignment in less time than when I used to do my assignment in my bedroom with my TV on and my cell phone by my side. I found that I have managed to save more time to do other domestic house work. I believe I will continue to build on this time management skill by disciplining myself to refine from social media usage when I have a task to be done. I will also educate colleagues, family and friends whom I find struggling with time management issues. I hope others will learn and put into practice from this module lesson as I have done.

My blog to students (Module 2)

In this module, I learned about creating a spreadsheet. I found this assignment very instrumental to me. As I’m a new beginner with this kind of computer skills, this assignment has exposed me to a more skillful knowledge which I’m very grateful for. I am going to be using the spreadsheet for my daily life activities.

I have already started using my spreadsheet. I started inserting how my time is spent on a daily basis. Before this spreadsheet, I haven’t been using a spreadsheet or any other form of time organization. By using my spreadsheet now, I found that I started to mentally organizing my daily activities which I think has been helpful so far.

In the future, I will continue to use the spreadsheet and try to get myself more comfortable with it. Once I get myself more familiar with using a spreadsheet, I can also implement using it for my daily and monthly budget, expense, and balance my account. I believe there are other activities in my life that using a spreadsheet will be beneficial to me.

My advice to other students based on my experience and what I’ve read on this module is that students should continue using spreadsheet as I have already started using it. It will really help organize our school work and personal life activities.
