Developmental Milestones :Physical,Cognitive & Social/Emotional

Early childhood

Ranges from the ages 2 to 6 years old things start to change within a Childs body it becomes longer and leaner, the motor skills are refined ,and children become more self-controlled and self -sufficient.Play becomes fun and meaningful reflecting and supporting many aspects of psychological development, and children began to make ties with their peers.

Physical Development

Physical Development is changes in body size, proportions, appearance, functioning of body systems, perceptual and motor capacities and physical health.

Parents can help by encouraging them to play and support children with  developing these skills by doing physical activities with them and showing them how to run, jump, and throw so that they know the proper techniques without hurting themselves .The more the child and parents are involved with do something active and learning, the more they will improve and grow as they get older . Parents will know a child has reached this milestone by seeing how well they have gotten at these activities whether it’s for sports or for play and can observe this while the child is performing those activities. 

Cognitive Development

Cognitive Development is changes in intellectual abilities, including attention, memory, academic and everyday knowledge, problem solving, imagination, creativity, and language.

Parents can help by always letting them know what is going on around them for instance if they are at a car wash they can describe what the soap and water is doing to the car and then what the machines are doing to the car which is help cleaning it . This will help the child  understand and be ready to analyze the things around them so they  will be already to  predict and be familiar to what is going to happen. Parents will know a child has reached this milestone by listening to their child when they are telling stories and how descriptive they get and how they solve certain problems.

Social/Emotional Development

Social/Emotional Development is changes in emotional communication, self-understanding, knowledge about other people, interpersonal skills, friendships, intimate relationships, and moral reasoning and behavior.

Parents can help by being positive  model for children to follow behind  and show how to act and   resolve problems in a better way to avoid conflict . This will help  the child understand and see how they  are supposed to react to certain problems in their life. Parents will know a child has reached this milestone  by how their child interacts with other children and adults and how they solve problems.
